I received an answering email from Thomas explaining that somehow everyone was banned from the site. I expect he remedied that. My issue however is still outstanding.
You must not be logged into the site. once you have your user name set up and are logged in you can click the button that says "Join This Group" right under the picture icon for the group.
EDIT: If you are logged in and got into the group, but get the error when trying to open a thread there is currently something strange going on with the site. Tweaker, the webmaster for the site, is working on it.
1) why do you need a pinger at all? just to take care of Crypt Rats? Isn't that what a good sideboard is for?
2) I disagree about the commando being bad. It might not be ideal for YOUR plan but it seems to do the job in my humble opinion.
The trip down memory lane. I rememeber playing with all of these cards back when they were nothing like they are today. If I had only known about the Bazzars! I am more than happy to see these cards hit online. Even though now I am more of a casual player than anything else, it will be fun to play with these again. Decent lists as well. Some solid ideas, which I may look into. Drains have been a desired card for a long time, but I will not pay hundreds anymore for paper (leave me alone about online cards!) I will have to build a Sorrows Path deck just cause. I actually have a copy of this that I have had since day one. And like the majority of people out there, we could never play this thing correctly. Ahhh the days of old....
Portal cards were fun and getting the alternate art was neat for the collector side of me and my friends. That alone was reason enough to get some of the cards. And finally will able to play with Portal 3 cards without taking out a loan.
We are now able to sign onto www.mymtgo.com I am not sure how this effects people that are trying to make a new account on mymtgo, but please report any issues.
The sign up form on mymtgo.com didn't not accept that my user name has a period in it. Since it does and it is not a problem unique to my user name perhaps this ought to be fixed. I sent an email to the webmaster of that site.
"I've talked with a number of players who learned via Portal, and every once of them has told me the same thing: "I wish I had just bought a preconstructed deck". This is admittedly a very small sample size, but the major differences between those cards and "real" magic cards seems like a tough hurdle to overcome to me."
I just wanted to dispel some myths surrounding Portal. Yeah it was a simplified way of playing Magic. Yeah it didn't have all the same mechanics of the mother game. But it was a great way of just picking up and playing a game of cards. I remember I picked up a bunch of portal and portal 2 for way way way cheap back in the day. Mostly because they were cheap and they were magic cards.
I think it gets a bad rap because as you learn the game the main game is far more advanced and has far more interactions but playing Portal is a lot like playing Limited. it really was. It was fun.
I think that if your only worry red deck burns I think that hindering light is way better than hydroblast because you get a card for a white mana and is more versitile. It is also very good against MBC.
if you are a purely singleton player I think you can skip FTV exiled. Lackey will be available within the next year and Channel is a good candidate for MED4. I wouldn't get it unless you really play classic. But on the flip side, its a purchase that you will probably be able to flip pretty easily since some of the cards are going to be sought after.
LE => Hmm.. a few of us can't login now too... just try again tomorrow I guess.. I'm sure something can be arranged regarding ur vacation unless u can't make it back by the next wkend.. reg officially ends on the 29th.. (tweaker might be able to accommodate more but i'm not sure)
arch => I probably don't have 20.. but I definitely have a few that I want to try out =)
I think that lackey is going to be highly sought after since it's one of the few 4x card... I hope to get some from the msg boards too..
I really hope Goblin Lackey doesn't become too expensive on the secondary market. Goblins look like so much fun in 100 singleton. Especially with M2010. There's a new Goblin Lord, Goblin Artillery, and Gorgon Flail just in case you though Goblin Sharpshooter wasn't powerful enough...
Also, I hope you were kidding about what to do with lands from Land Tax. I could probably think of 20 good uses for them off the top of my head.
As I read through the spoiler I thought that "Riding the Dilu Horse" was a euphemism for drugs. I've later learned that it's part of the Three Kingdoms story.
Somehow I can't log in to mymtgo.com from my laptop. Can you please tell me when the deadline for registration is? I want to play but I can only do so after I return from vacation.
Regarding Pingers: Fangtail is too expensive, and ideally I would want to run a two or three drop pinger, such as Sparksmith, Fireslinger, Vithian Stinger, or Vulshok Sorcerer. Sparksmith or Sorcerer are probably ideal right now, since one is strong and the other can have an immediate impact on the board.
With regards to Hobble, it should probably be Gelid Shackles which turns off blocking while also turning off Crypt Rats. If I were to try another card, it would either be Shackles or Temporal Isolation.
Skirk Commando is bad, because it has to hit to clear out a blocker. Marauder can either shock a player or a creature.
I love tribal and had played in the std tribal bits that used to get run, but if it comes around to classic tribal for prizes people just run the same tribes, its like elves, slivers, goblins, wizards, zombies, clerics.. you get the same group of ccomboy ultra synergetic decks and those arent as fun to me and im sure many others whod rather see people play something a little different, i like the decks AJs always posting because they focus on making some of these generic tribes fit a bit better into a deck instead of just being a random pile of crits.. bottom line imo is that people would run the same decks in PREs and itd get stagnant
What he's saying is that by making pauper actually mean something, you drive people to actually test and make an effort to find the best decks. When the format was more casual, for the most part you could play anything you wanted and do fine. Offering prizes attracts better and more competitive players.
is actually Kukemssa Pirates in Mirage, followed Pirate Ship in Time Spiral Bonus, and Ramires is the 3rd. Getting closer to that magical Tribe number!

I wasn't able to log on earlier and was just now able to. There must have been an issue earlier.
EDIT: Apparently there are still issues as I keep getting kicked off and cannot enter many of the threads.

You can try messaging "Tweaker" in game if you have any issues. Sometimes I have to clear all of my cookies to log-in properly...

Which Commander Deck has the Illusionary Mask?

Thanks for the kind words LE. Dancing monkeys on their way to you now by special delivery.
I can't believe I never realised Broodmate was 6cc after all this time! I literally had to check, and was still surprised. Maybe I need glasses...

Great article!
Doesn't Tarmotog's last sentence before his signature say registration ends on the 29th?
