I think you just weak in m10 limited. I have made smth like 19 of my 22 qp just playing 16ppl swiss and 84 drafts. Its also obv that if u want to make some $ cnstr>limited.
The Variance is what attracted me to limited in the beginning, but now as I'm getting more experienced, the metagame is pulling me to constructed. It's like starting out play Rock Paper Scissors, with only knowing you can throw one, and not knowing what beats what. Then realizing what beats what changes your view on the game slightly.
Hi PS that looks like a very nice deck although I would feel naked without the Lightning Bolts for quick early removal, I'd probably swap out the Elvish Visionary's for them.
I didn’t include the Siege Gang's as they will pop up in the next article :)
I understand what you're doing, but showing a matchup where you're heavily heavily favored, does nothing. Martyr.dec should beat Burn everyday, so it's not like those videos show something we don't already know. Why not show the deck against MBCu, Slivers, Affinity, MBC, etc? It would be interesting to see if the deck could handle the explosiveness and combo of Affinity.
This was a very good article overall, and I that Mana Drain/Tezzeret shell looks great.
I think that ichorid will be a definite candidate for the top tier deck, as it is the first true vintage deck that we have online. Though people will be packing hate, skilled ichorid pilots have always been able to win through whatever hate people are packing. Sideboard leyline is a must, and people need to start thinking about maindeck leyline and other ichorid hate just so they don't get completely blown out game 1.
My only gripe is that stalker list. In a format with 0 downside mana drain, tomb stalker is now a very, very bad card. Simply draining a tombstalker allows the opponent to either assemble whatever missing piece of their combo with tezz, and win out, or cast 2 fact or fictions on the same turn. Drain is the reason no one plays tombstalker in vintage.
I personally can't wait to play dragon, as it's one of my favorite decks to pilot (though it does suck to fight).
Oh boy, this is like Christmas, I'm looking forward to finding and reading these articles. Thanks for the mention. I heard some bad things bout MOCS V, I hope you are able to completely rearrange your schedule again, for the next tournament. Keep on Grinding.
Sorry for the mistake in my last post, but the Centaur Courser should be an alterative to the Awakener Druids not the Borderland Rangers. I believe the Borderland Rangers are nessary for a mana hungry deck with a lot of five-drops like this.
The total cost is 7.48, most of it for the Siege-Gang Commanders. Also it's just build form my head, so it could use some tuning, but i believe this could stand its ground in the causual room.
It's hit and miss with a set this new if the cards that I buy for the article will fall enough to be in the budget by the time the article is finished and posted.
There's a week or more between when I buy the cards and when the article goes up. In this case I was a few dollars out of what I thought the cards would fall too, which wasnt that bad as they cost about $15 each when I bought the cards.
"this time round the whole of the deck will come under the $10 budget and will only contain M10 cards"
I liked the decks yet both your decks ended up around the $12.50 mark meaning you didn't even stick to your own rules. I know building a full deck from scratch for $10 is really rough but you could have either raised your budget rule or sacraficed to stay under.
lol perl
you guys rock!
I think it's perl.
I almost understood that.

Ahhhhhh, thread necromancy!

Is that what it was? I was always told that they lost the art between UNL and REV and had to commision new art for the REV set.
EDIT: Ok, so I looked it up in the MTG Salvation WIKI and we're both right...
http://wiki.mtgsalvation.com/article/Plateau
Literally nobody drafted goblins. 11th pick tar pitcher? I almost struggle to believe Draftcap.
The art from the revised Plateau was commissioned for Ice Age's Snow-Covered Plateau, before the idea was scrapped.
Imagine if that went through...
I am responding from a mobile device so I'm not logged in but, the ichorid list is missing a very very important card in unmask.
As for the stalker list that was more to illustrate the effect of the missing duals on deck building.
Um.
(It's rare!)
that plat is diffrent art from the revised edt. looks nice
I would be very interested in seeing videos of these other matchups
At least Backslide doesn't actively HARM you while doing absolutely nothing useful. Like Sorrow's Path. I just hope it's not a rare ;_;
But Aladdin's Ring is so cooooool.

tried it out, worked like a dream vs a burn deck atleast :)

I would build the g/r deck something like this:
14x Forest
10x Mountain
4x Lanowar Elves (0.12) 0.48
4x Elvish Visionary (0.05) 0.20
4x Rampant Growth (0.02) 0.08
4x Borderland Ranger (0.05) 0.20 (or Centaur Courser)
4x Awakener Druid (0.08) 0.32
4x Ant Queen (0.25) 1.00
4x Overrun (0.15) 0.60
4x Siege-Gang Commander (1.00) 4.00
4x Fireball (0.15) 0.60
The total cost is 7.48, most of it for the Siege-Gang Commanders. Also it's just build form my head, so it could use some tuning, but i believe this could stand its ground in the causual room.
