It would be helpful if you linked those cards or write out what they do. Without the key to this article, it does not compute.

GREAT JOB WHIFFY!  I look forward to more walkthroughs and your insight of some of the top Classic decks.  These kind of articles are really good for the Classic Community and will help new players ease in to a deck and play style that fits their needs.  A few articles like this may lure a few players into trying Classic out.  Keep up the work if you need stats just let me know I am getting them all updated during this long break of no PE's.

Also that Sensei-Sensei list just seems akaward.  4x Seat just makes your mana base worse run one Seat and one Den for Trinket Mage and keep the rest to non artifact lands (or add TFK.)  You only run 3x Top which the deck needs to win.  You run all the bomberman cards but not LED+Spellbomb so you can run two combos.  You also only have one card in the deck that can deal with creatures on the table.  Consider StP or Shackles or something.  It just seems strickly worse than Bomberman as a combo-control deck.

  • Pale Ale goes Fae   17 years 15 hours ago

Ah Bitterblossom starts to take over more formats, very good.  I like my WB control list over this one as you run mostly the same deck but fewer threats and more Moats.

I'd also cut the Serra Avengers they are pretty much worse than Tombstalker in every way.  You say she beats aggro but she comes down on turn four, dies to all removal in the format, and can't fight a goyf.  Also I see no reason not to stick in a second Skullclamp.  Null Rod seems like subpar Affinity hate as it blanks Clamp/Jitte why not run Kataki+discard?

So yea thx for the kind words there UtH. i hope that i wont disapoint as i actually enjoyed writing this more then i thought i would and would feel it would be a shame if i couldnt captivate my audience.

Mikey J. sorry that it is run of the mill but to be honest only 2 other authors on the net are tackling the same subject matter that i am even though the procdure is run of the mill i beleive the content and focus is new and refreshing. I would be remiss if this article just turned into another weekly deck check but i am aming for the serious classic PE players out there and since there is so little classic content it will resemble that from time to time but i do hope to jazz it up because everyone needs to differeniate themselvs or the audience will grow bored.  any ways thx for reading.

I could probably drop those cards for the Blackguard.  I'll have to test that.  CWish is nice, and I liked it, it just doesn't fetch Tops or Helms... The Brain Freeze is usually pretty easy to find.

  • Whiffy's Lunch Box - Here comes the Bomberman!   17 years 1 day ago

Another article about the same stuff, but at least you took the time to write one, which is more than I have accomplished.  Good luck on future articles.  Please try to bring something new or more interesting than the run-of-the-mill analysis every mtgo website has beat to death.

  • Whiffy's Lunch Box - Here comes the Bomberman!   17 years 1 day ago

The start of a very promising serious written by one of Classics top achieving players.  A useful read for the format novice and I expect classic die hards will look forward to the promised walk throughs in later articles.  It is good to see such good players/writers covering classic here on puremtgo. I am sure many are waiting for the return of the replay enabled PE's and I can really only see classic growing in popularity and support.  Good job Whiffy I look forward to the next article.

    Conspire isn't cumulative.  From WotC:

<<You may pay a spell's conspire cost only once. (If a spell has multiple instances of conspire, you may pay each conspire cost only once.)

A copy created with conspire will have a conspire ability itself. However, since that copy wasn't played, its conspire ability won't trigger. You won't get another copy.>>

Thanks for taking the time to write the comments.

I would like to know what is wrong with the wording on my card though. Might help with my future entries.

Whenever Broom is dealt damage, put that many token copies of it into play.

Now THAT will get the multiplication effect going.  However, they'd probably have to lose the mana ability for that to not be completely busted.

Nice Article Walkerdog! I total underestimated bitterblossom when it was first released and even went as far as to say I thought it would never make a PE T8! Well this has already been disproved and since accepting my error in assessing this card, I have recently picked up 4 - and I must say I am impressed.  I love Oona's Blackguard and wondered if you had considered dropping the 2 Serra Aveneger and 2 Hymn to Torach for 4 of these pesky rogues.

Also have you considered cunning wish in the sensi-sensi ?

0/1 scarecrow artifact creatures seem to fit the flavor better than treefolk.

    nice idea.

  • April 2008 Custom Card Contest (CCC) - Planeswalker   17 years 2 days ago

You're right, it is Jokulhaups.  Why'd you copy a Red card when there's a perfectly fine White equivalent for you White card?

  • April Custom Card Contest, Part 2   17 years 2 days ago

Sorry JX, looks like its lost then.  Any back up version I have only contains the layout of the article and I don't have time to go formating everything again.

  • Random Singleton Talk   17 years 2 days ago

If you have reveillark, body double, and a sac outlet (gargadon), you could go for the infinite mogg fanatic kill instead. It uses one less card than kiki + mite, and yes you can do infinite sacs with gargadon (look at Juniper Order Ranger combo).

  • April 2008 Custom Card Contest (CCC) - Planeswalker   17 years 2 days ago

    largebrandon's Comments:

Appeal - The only appeal is the last ability, and the walker costs too much for a suspend 2 WoG for 5 mana.

Largebrandon was not the only one to misread the final ability. It is not a Wrath of God or Akroma's Vengence. Technically it is a Jokulhaups. What I was really going for here was the ability to clear the board with lots of floated mana. The final ability probably should have been -6 though.

I'll agree that the second ability is lackluster but when evaluating a card at least make sure you are comparing the ability to the appropriate card.

    @Pyrosin
I know green doesn't get any direct damage.  Blue however has some... it is as follows...

Prodigal Sorceror, Capricious Sorcerer, Apprentice Sorcerer, Hermetic Study, Mawcor, Pirate Ship, Psionic Blast, Psionic Entity, Psionic Gift, Psionic Sliver, Psyhcic Purge, Relic Bind, Reveka Wizard Savant, Rootwater Hunter, Stinging Barrier, Stinging Licid, Suffocation, Suq'Ata Firewalker, Thornwind Faeries, Volcanic Eruption (personal favorite, even if it's only in paper), Wu Longbowman, Zuran Spellcaster.

Direct damage may not exactly be blue's strongpoint most of that is pinging, but it is something it is capable of. Who is to say Mickey's win condition isn't a bunch of ping crits and intruder alarm? I figured I'd be scored lower for having blue mana accell, THAT is something blue does not do.  Return X permanents might have been a better choice for ultimates for my submission, but it wasn't a serious effort anyway.

I have left a message with pyrosin on v3, hopefully he will get it.  Because of a mistake on my part, this article has been lost on my end.  I hope he has a back up that he can replace it with.

I am very sorry for my mistake.  I have pinpointed what caused it though, so it will never happen again.
