Thanks for the feedback. I'm experimenting with the recording setup. Future releases will be in HD. I'm not sure if I can do anything about this set, but there is something I can try.

Sorry, but I found the videos at 360p to be blurry and unwatchable at full screen.

It didn't under the old filter, likewise with Kamigawa flip cards or Figure of Destiny and its descendants. Nor with permanents that become creatures either temporarily or permanently. A question worth examining in any case.

I'm really glad that the community keeps the format alive because it was always my favorite format. It is probably the only format that wasn't spoiled by Wizards and I could always play it whenever I wanted. So thank you guys for being here and still playing and ML_Berlin for hosting the tournaments.

Other formats like Vintage or Legacy changed a lot during the years and the direction the format takes is not the one I like. s100 on the other hand still allows to play all the decks I'd like to play and I have to accept the new cards and sometimes face them but it is nothing that would be close to ruining the format. Legacy and Vintage at certain points were really unplayable and that is the reason why I just can't say that either is my most favorite format. Vintage is almost there but any non-EDH Highlander and Cube are simply better just because I can play it anytime without fearing some White Eldrazi or Mentor Gush metagame - unplayable.

    Thank you Carl, duly noted.

Thanks stsung for this article. I look forward to many more matches against you.

I have been playing s100 (or versions of it such as 80 card highlander and Canadian highlander) in paper since 1996. Whilst we can never return to the Golden Age when Magic Online hosted sanctioned s100 tournaments, and when WoTC maintained the s100 filter, nevertheless a bright new dawn is rising for us.

They can take away our sanctioned events, they can take away our filter, but they can never take away our LIBERTY! :)

I am glad that the format is still alive today online thanks to members of the community, especially ML_Berlin and others. It is the best format of all, in my opinion. If you are interested in joining us, you would be most welcome.

    Hi, Michelle,

I absolutely plan on playing Green Moon in Indy at the end of the month. No matter what I randomly play locally, or use as an escape online, Green Moon is the selection.

I've added you as a buddy on Magic Online. I have 2 accounts I use. My primary one is CarlWilt, and the secondary one is BlastodermMan. Due to an issue at work, I'm not available tonight, so this quick note will have to do. But, I should be free pretty much any evening the rest of the week to chat on MTGO, if that works.

As as brief answer, I currently don't have a plan for the 4-Color Retreat deck ( http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=105190 ), and I'm not sure that it will make up a significant enough portion of the metagame to be concerned with. But, obviously, I would have no issue discussing possible solutions/answers to the deck. I do think that Blood Moon is a significant hindrance to the deck, given that they run so few basics, and can only sacrifice Plains or Forests to the Knight. And it could be added as one of the decks where Damping Matrix > Torpor Orb, which isn't unreasonable.

    Thanks...Carl

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 290   8 years 45 weeks ago

Pretty certain the answer to that is "no".

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 290   8 years 45 weeks ago

I couldn't see any rulings on it on the Google docs page, so I was wondering whether the back face of a double-faced card contributes to the tribal identity of the card. Does, for example, Delver of Secrets count as an insect?

Really? I went from being somewhat interested in opening EMN packs to not wanting to get any...

  • State of the Program for July 29th 2016   8 years 45 weeks ago
    re

"...unscrupulous people may open a few packs per booster box to identify the mythics, then remove all the packs with that picture and then sell the rest. To avoid this problem, buy sealed booster boxes..."

This is just a trick to get people to buy more than they originally intended.

Sadly not, you're doing the right thing with the wordpad back up :/

The editor here on the site annoyed me a lot when I started writing articles and stopped using it for edits altogether because it tends to delete or change my text and styles (it adds paragraphs, spaces, changes font-style, line-height). I haven't even tried using tables or anything. It was driving me crazy but hopefully copy/paste from notepad works (that includes all the code necessary to display formatted text).

If everyone is having issues with this, isn't there a way how to make it work in the future?

    (I use chrome)

    Hi Carl,

Have you decided if you will run your Modern Green Moon deck at GP Indianapolis at the end of August? (That was never a promise, so no worries about broken promises!)

I would like to learn about your sideboarding guide for Green Moon. Do you mind contacting me on Magic Online (Michelle_Wong) so that we can discuss sideboarding strategy? Also, would it be possible to update your guide so that it covers the Reliquary Knight/Retreat to Coralhelm combo matchup? (Note that your Torpor Orbs do not stop this combo).

    Many thanks.

In terms of browsers I have much the same experience. I use Firefox but if I am creating an article it will not save the contents just the title and blurb. However, if I create the article in Internet Explorer then I haven't had any problems writing and editing the article in Firefox from there which is what I usually do. Not sure the reason for the problem.

The macro I wrote that adds hover will be updated at a much faster rate. It should work with the traditional parenthesis method, and including a set identifier is better, though not necessary. Similarly, the deck creator I made should be updated as soon as the MTGO beta of a set it up (that's the easiest place I am aware to make lists of the set by color/CMC/type/rarity).

I'm not sure if you are copying and pasting the old tables (and thus keeping the links) or relinking each article. The hover macro probably won't be feasibly able to work around that (at least with my knowledge). Some of the errors seem to be because of coloring the test and odd bolding, but I'm not positive.

Hopefully next week it works better, still working out all the kinks.

Had to take this down for about a minute, needed to grab the source code for Xger.

  • State of the Program for July 29th 2016   8 years 46 weeks ago

Pete yeah the browser issue with the RTF editor is beyond intolerable and is one main reason I stopped being enthusiastic about posting articles. Sure takes the wind out of the sales to have stuff repeatedly self-delete. However, doing it in Chrome does work and after you start it there, Firefox will work as expected.

Josh is using a new list formatter by Xger that adds in hover via a cute css trick (that I didn't think would actually work but apparently does.) Josh posted a how to article last week, which I expect is linked now from the main page (though I haven't looked).

I loled at your comment about the older languages (which mirrors my own prior knowledge of programming before web technology.)

  • State of the Program for July 29th 2016   8 years 46 weeks ago

In the past, I used to use to put the cards name in parentheses before loading into the editor, and it would link to the MTGOTraders.com page for the card. That function did not work for OGW and SOI for a long time, so I manually pasted links to all the cards in the Std, Modern and Legacy tables. I also had problems with cards from those sets in the deck editor - it would not link the cards, and put them in Spells, regardless of their actual type. Sideboard cards just disappear. I have to move, add and add links manually. Could be I am doing something wrong - I haven't done any programming since the 1990s, so I am beyond rusty. My knowledge of Fortran, Basic, C (not C++) and machine code is probably as useful as my knowledge of Type 1.5 and Mercadian Masques Block constructed.

As for browsers, I use Firefox for most web stuff but that does not work with the editor. (It works for title and blurb, but tends to delete everything in the article box when you save.) I have had the best results with IE, but don't have that on my laptop. Bing works, but throws in three carriage returns between paragraphs and the right click to format tables does not work, which is why the tables are not centered on occasion. I edited this article in Chrome, which actually worked (I had bad experiences in the past.) I have also tried Safari, but I'm not a fan.

(edit - I still use Jamura's decklist creator. It looks like Joshus used something else on this article (I submitted with a simple text list - no structure and no links.)

Yeah, but in this article I said that Moat wasn't unbanned yet, but it actually is since this is Singleton.

  • Diaries of the Apocalypse: Tribal Week 290   8 years 46 weeks ago

And that is exactly what you announced after the #278 event so it shouldn't take people by surprise.
