There are four default colors now (green, blue, gray, and white). You can also submit an RGB code, for example my Avacyn article has a lighter red background.
Nice! I just wish I would have known about this before I had submitted my most recent article and had done all of the links and pictures for SOI and EMN stuff manually :(
A couple of questions/additions though:
1. Will this system update automatically when MTGOTraders updates with the new sets, or will there be a lag time? (I'm assuming the longer-than-usual lag time on the old system was related to implementing this new system)
2. Does this change the (pic=cardname) system at all, or will that stay with the old system?
Is tagging a card the old way still an option, if we don't have a preference of which set to display for the hover image? Or is the set now required for the link to work at all?
Also, has the coding for displaying card images (rather than text links) changed?
Hover cards are great! I also like being able to upload the deck after exporting from MTGO and referencing that in the article.
My one suggestion would be to make it optional to specify a set when linking to it, and default the hover to some printing (most recent if possible). For folks writing limited articles, knowing the card set to use is pretty straightforward. However, I could imagine for writers of constructed articles, having to look up set abbreviations of cards could be a bit tedious. Making it as easy as possible for people would ensure that links get used more often. Not a huge deal but just wanted to give this feedback.
I used editing team because I am not sure if we will need to publish a writer's guide while I am here again, and if the time comes the new editor will have something to work with, all joking aside.
Xger did a fantastic job with the workarounds and all things considered, even if the deck builder/download feature does not take off, at least hover cards are around now!
Thanks AJ for clarifying. But no worries about the underdog prize, Gorgons are clearly less potent than Sphinxes, so your tribe is the real underdog here (if not in form then in spirit).
If the Gorgons turn me to stone for accusing them of being the underdogs, then I will blame you. Actually, I would be in stone form (stoned?), so I won't be able to blame anyone. In that case, please just hang a plaque on my stone statue which says "This woman messed with Gorgons. Let it be a lesson to others!"
Good question, let me verify the states of the tribes. I'll happily pass the prize details on to Michelle if need be.
Edit:
This does indeed seem to be the case. Both tribes are endangered and unhallowed, but not unpopular. Going by the prize rules as written, she has a better claim. Gorgons are less numerous than Sphinxes, but this does not appear to factor into the rules. Michelle, if you're playing today, I'll transfer the ticket credit over. :)
Yeah, it's real hit or miss on here. Most of the winning decks would be punished by Moon effects, but you have to slosh through a lot of honest Aggro (many players on a budget here) first. A lot of burn lists don't run Price of Progress, which would ordinarily be a no-brainer, for the same reason.

Thanks, Brian!
Excellent. Love the direction we're going.
The lag time should be considerably shorter, it should sync up with the set coming on to mtgotraders.com
From what I understand, there is some work into the old way possibly working, but for right now the old way is still just a link.
Displaying card images works the same way, and when I update this piece later on today, I will make sure to note that, as well as the set table.
so yes (pic=cardname) still does what it does.

Thank you for the feedback, I'll point it out to Xger and we'll see what can be done.
I should be able to set up a table with the set names and abbreviations, and hopefully that would be a good resource?

I am going to see if out programmer can add it to the write for PureMTGO part in the header.
Great stuff! Maybe this should be stickied somehow.
I love the new deck list tool! Great work Xger and thank you very much!

The hover cards look great. Big thanks to Xger for sorting that out. A much appreciated feature.
I'm a team of one ;)
It is not always neon green, we have a couple of limited options so far.
Wait, there is an editing team now? Who do I have to fight to (maybe have the time) to be a part of that? (If time cooperates...)
Is the background of the new decklisting always neon green? Can we adjust that?
That will both help life gain angle as well as trigger delver more often, making it feel like delver's # 5-7...mongoose too
Take Inventory and Spontaneous Mutation might fit into this deck as well
Just nix the wearbear and run pulse of murasa as creatures 1-3 missing - giving you ample time to live to 'threshold stage' :)
Aha! Cool, didn't think of that. My apologies.
The tribes are checked BEFORE the event numbers kick in. At that point, Gorgon was still unpopular, got three categories, ran unopposed.
