Another great read, my friend. Dredge is both a fun deck to play AND play against in my experience. I actually did have really poor draws in our opening game, although I hardly feel like that's an excuse for a decent deck. Another time :D Oh, and to answer your question, I'm an EXCELLENT player, and don't you forget it ;-)
And yikes, next time, let's make sure no one gets muted before the PE, eh? How absurd was that incident....
well my friend, i guessed i've been lucky in my life, when i was younger my parents always gave me enough money, and i'm lucky enough to know how to manage my $$. after i started working i guess i've always been paid enough to consistently play at least a 2 or 3 drafts a week, and constructed 8 mans pay back for themselves, you win 1 or 2 matches and its basically payed itself. and if you win a PE, well...you can play for a longggg time withought having to actually empty you CC.
now its easier for me coz i moved to the USA, and now i earn in US dollars, and when u earn in dollars, mtgo is not that expensive. but basically to afford playing MTGO consistently all you have to do is win.
Well, i've always been able to afford MTGO(actually by sacrificing lots of drinking). I've also almost always had a very good job, so you basically have to administer your money well, and WIN, if you win 3 packs in an 8 man you just doubled what you payed for playing it...quite easy. also not long ago i moved to the USA in Connecticut, i got a way better job now which pays fairly well, so magic is more affordable now.
Yea i almost forgot about the Jitte too... The life gain was terrible for me with Flash. It is a good deck with many ways to deal with most decks in the format right now.
You know, you're right! I think that's a great idea, I should set my expectations high. Thanks for the support.
As for Wall of Swords, in hindsight that may have been a better idea. I used it mostly in my sideboard, whenever I faced a match up who tried to build a deck around flying. It never occured to me that a straight W/B build might have been the way to go. *Doh*
I enjoy reading ur articles except for the part where u start beating urself up by expecting urself not to do well. U're a guy who can take a big step into things so dun start pulling urself down. Start declaring that u'll be at the top of multiple PEs just like how u declared to be Jon Finkel =) Even if you don't pull it off in the near future, ur time will definitely come and I'm sure all of ur audience will enjoy seeing u at the top (with ur crazy way of showing it). (and I'll bet that u have that moment visualized in ur mind now.. )
I will try and get the deck list for the deckopedia as it has taken first in one event and second in another. It is a good deck when played well and even better deck when you get a couple of favorable match ups.
It's pretty sweet actually, it runs a decent amount of early disruption (thoughtsieze, etc), early acceleration (LLanwar Elves, Fyndhorn elves), lifegain, to thwart RDW (Essence Warden), recursion via eternal witness, and card draw via Skullclamp. I seem to recall Ravenous Baloth in there as well as a beater/lifegainer.
Things mostly get banned because they are warping to the environment. Part of the reason Goyf isn't warping is because everyone can play it. The evil that the card really entails is therefore largely hidden. But when a card gets played in aggro decks, control decks, and mother loving combo decks, there isn't a reason for it to be in the format. Really, what other card in history can claim that kind of popularity?
Frankly, it angers me the idea of "Let's ban Tarmogoyf because it is in all the good decks." First of all, that is not true, and secondly (more importantly), banning is supposed to eliminate broken cards that the environment can't deal with effectively. Period. It is not intended to ban cards on the basis that they are too popular.
Tarmogoyf is overpowered. WotC made a mistake in printing the card in its current incarnation. But it is not insurmountable.
how did you not play wall of swords? It is quite possibly one of your best uncommons in the entire pool. And splashing red does nothing but cause early disruptions in ur mana base with WW and BB 2 drops. You should have stayed 2 colors and definitely have played wall of swords because it is rediculous.
Yes Jam but then treetop village is also played more than plains. Now is this saying Tarmogoyf is too good or that Wizards needs to put some effort into making white more playable?
just because my methods are different from yours, and even though you post anonymously, i think i know who you are, i am in no way trying to hurt anyone with my methods. i just believe that i'm an activist, and i'm going to be active in providing the community with viable options of what to do with their time. simply make your options as or more viable than the ones i offer, and you'll do fine. feel free to email me at meuslix@gmail.com , as this really ain't the place for this.
Thought I might as well tell you that MTGO has a bug with grinning ignus. He only works with red mana from mountains, i.e. not the red mana made from his ability. Fun stuff, no?
You are extremely entertaining to read. Most people who attempt "Humor articles" end up sounding ridiculous or extremely juvenile, but you're pulling it off.
Hunted Phantasm for the war-pride deck? Even if your opponent has no creatures in his deck you can still do 24 damage the 1st turn you attack with the war-pride.
this is my favorite quote from yer article:
"Deep Anal in-hand was loose "
keep up the good werk

sorry about the almost double post.

That cost me a top 8 haha

Nice article, really enjoyed the historical perspective. I always knew Seshiro was pegged down a notch, but never understood why.
Also, I had no idea that Vanguard had such a cutthroat metagame. Are matchups the most important aspect or is there a deck that can win consistently?

I'm intrested in seeing this GB Elf Clamp decklist...I don't think I've ever heard of it..

Thanks for the kind words. It's always fun to write these articles up and it's great to hear that people actually enjoy them.
I agree, these articles are a great and funny read!

Keep up the good work.
terrific article. really good stuff - boosts this site by itself.
tokens does NOT trigger grave pact, since they are NOT going to the graveyard. this means that this deck is invalid to the mtg rules.
