Wouldn't the addition of Changelings benifit Zombie.dec? I mean, they are all zombies, so if you include some green changelings (woodland and with Morningtide, game-trail), the manabase would tends more into green and thus allow maybe a easier insertion of a green mana fixers, including everyone favourites Llanowar Elves
Giving W/G Big mana one more mana is not a big deal, plus it strands the next akroma drawn as well.
Is it worth running? Probably not, but just thought I'd throw that out there that there's pinpoint removal for the deck that can hit Akroma (or any potential blocker).
This is in the works, just trying to work out how to make the forums work the way I want to. After that, there will be sweet sweet linkage, which will make it easier.
I went to all that trouble to explain what all the staples are, and I didn't include a shortlist for someone to grab. There are some mentioned, which cover most of what I am talking about, in about.. priority order
1. Painlands 2. Wrath of God 3. Garruk Wildspeaker 4. Rune Snag 5. Tribal Reveal Lands 6. Snow Taplands
I'll probably present what I consider a comprehensive list of staples next week, or the week after.
Is there an archive that contains all the Standard Deviations decks. a Deck-o-Pedia if you will? Also, I would love to see a decklist for Goblins or Big Mana over the next few weeks.
Great article. The painlands are definitley a staple and will be in more core sets to come.
My main problem was there were some grammar mistakes where you should of used *your* etcetera. And the overuse of critters was quite annoying.. Besides all that good article!
I agree that JUST 4x STP won't deal with Nought, but if I wasn't quite trying to approach this as a "mono-color way to deal with things", but more as a look at what each color can do. We usually run 2-4 color decks, and if you have white as one of your colors, you probably have STP x 4. I agree, straight White Weenie or whatever would probably be in trouble when Nought dropped. Good point on Moat also, although that was coming in the Aggro fighting parts ;).
There aren't very many decks left to play where Trinket Mage into Ivory Tower is a good option against RDW. It's fine enough to try as a 1x of in a deck that uses Mage heavily though (say Bomberman, which usually has to play a long game), espectialy since the best option - Pulse of the Fields, isn't normally tutorable by cards run in those decks.
I also think you vastly overrate white's ability to deal with the stiflenought option in flash. If all you are running is 4x stp, and they are running 8+ disruption suite, the odds are in the nought's favour. The real killer would be a Samurai and a Moat.
Lastly, I'm surprised the Moat wasn't mentioned. Against a whole slew of decks, it's a game-ending card.

So I've been trying this deck out with some success in the tourney practice room (4-1). It's a variation on what you've been doing, although I didn't really check on the pricing, so I may have gone over. The sideboard is still being worked out. Anyway, here's the list. There's a lot of fun combinations, but I'd love to hear what others have to say.
x2 Consume Spirit
x4 Contaminated bond
x2 Darkness
x3 Dash Hopes
x4 Dunerider Outlaw
x2 Liliana Vess
x3 Phyrexian Totem
x4 Pooling Venom
x2 Profane Command
x4 Sleeper Agent
x2 Soul Spike
x20 Swamp
x2 Tendrils of Corruption
x4 vampiric link
x2 Whispersilk Cloak
The Stronghold discipline I moved over to the sideboard, and there's a bunch of terrors over there too. So far against any blue deck it's been a charm, and it even grabbed a tarmogoyf based deck in there was well. The loss was to a white weenie, and I think that had something to do with my draw/sideboard as well.
Anyway, thanks for the deck. It's a lot of fun to play.

PS Anyone else know of other "poison pill" cards in Standard?
Good luck, and have fun in Hollywood. I won a ptq when i was around ur age. It was rome and i couldnt make it. But hollywood sounds much more fun. I hope you do good. I figure if you can do good enough to get a money finish and get invited to the next pt, you can stay on tour for a while. Not having to qualify for each PT is a big advantage Professionals have.
i bought aunties hovel, but i was aprehensive. i dont see them holding their value after lorwyn rotates out.
in a non goblin deck they are terrible.

Wow, that does look fishy. I got the list from the Japanese Finals tourneys, apparently they didn't note the snow-ness.
In your list for the Elves, I think the basic lands should be snow-covered. That Mouth of Ronom looks fishy to me.
Thanks, I'll see what I can do about getting that fixed up.
I'll see if I can grab the old numbers again. I recall doing something similar a few months ago.
A good idea!
Green answer to akroma? Utopia Vow.

That is a very good idea jam, maybe a follow up article for when the system is down for the v3, or maybe while PE's are down for Tide.

I thought you were going to tell us what you think are the staples in standard. Where is your list? <confused face>
Your TOC links are invalid...
I love the idea of "Ham Jones" :)
do you have a "Ham Jones Industrial Average?" a year back ?

Bramblewood Paragon and Mutavault are the two cards I'm looking forward to most.
I think I'd rather use Bramlewood in conjunction with a few red cards but yea it could be great here too.

Nice article about converting and budgetizing a deck into a different format! Really neat way to get to the end result.
