The fact that you write like a 3rd grader and your arrogant attitude has made me never want to enter your events. I bet some, if not most, of the 522 visitors this article has gotten feel the same way.
A Neo, shut the apple up and shove your fat face with another doughnut cos i'm sick of hearing you orange. I'll tell you half the problems its jealousy. Your jealous about a ton of crap that isn't worth anyones time with some sorry half lime clan. So thats all I got to say about that. Next, Stop crying, your the host knitty, show some balls, set some examples, kick some people out, they orange, cos their jealous, they want cards banned because they're jealous, they don't have to participate in a free tournament. Block list is okay, thats all I got to say about that!
You know, we do have a thing called sportsmenship. I feel bad for the sponsers that have to deal with this shit, so great job guys.
Its sad when they have to pay hosts too, so events can run, thats what I feel horrible about. Lets pay so this event can run, christ, give me a break, I'll run them for free? Why cos, its for the community, and at the same time I can thorn out half the bs. People wanna start shit with me, fine, who the apple cares, online people who start shit have the most retarded mindset ever, its there way of saying I suck and I can't do shit in life but i'll start drama. Instead of even wasting an ounce of your time on fighting back with half the little bastards, just says hey pal, F-U your banned for this month, Have a nice day, the host should post them on some post entitled the wall of shame, and that way we can laugh @ them. It'd be to funny.
I would worry less about attracting people and care more about fixing the current problems. Your only going to get a manifesting problem, that will soon be to much to control, and you'll loose all tournies. If it was up to me, we say apple your stupid ego, apple your macho macheesmo, hell apple all your silly little shitty temper tantrums, be a damn man or woman and say You know what, I'm here to enjoy myself and relax, not here for drama, why the apple do I want to start drama, and yea you should place people on the ban list and if they even appear in the room once that night they're banned the next one, and so on and so forth.
** admin edited for swearing, please keep the cussing to a minimum **
A good, informative article, though it was a little dense. Some sort of graphic representation of what you were talking about might have helped, maybe? I understood it better after Evu's post.
Ya know Frank I took a lot of heat for you after you left "OH", I had your back and stood up for you. NEO and several others in OH told me you are a backstabbing weasle, Liar, WHore , just to name a few. I never though I would say this but NEO is 100% right about you.
Your just like a prostitute and go to whomever give you $$(Cards). It realy pisses me off cause I was told several time what kinda person you are. I always told neo to piss off. All the dam drama started when you came over and asked to join Hellz ANgellz (Solisitaion of Prostitution). I took you in with all the BS I knew would follow. And you give some lame excuse.... cmon you are "Spineless" just like neo and OH said you are.
I expect you to give me all the cards I let you barrow, Ya know what get em. And after reading that article...lol cmon It doe'snt take a scientist to run an event. You sounded like a good guy but then again most spineless liars leech prostitutes do. YOU DID NOT INVENT PRE, Thats been going on way before you even thought about MTGO. I don't know what part Neo did But I am for sure Meuslix did 100x more for the pre scene than you will ever do.
Hellz Angellz accounts for a lot of registrations for player run events and at any time we run 10 - 20 deep in any given event, Remeber what happend to Broken Alliences a couple of weeks ago when we pulled from the event. Just keep that in mind the next time you intend to stab anyone in the back again.
Hurray for the Player Run Events........ lol....You JERK Frank!!!
Thank you Evu- do you have a back ground in math? I only ask because I have a bachelors in English, where being overly verbose can be seen as a good thing.
Evu really hit the nail on the head with what I was trying to get at, I used the terminology I did because I felt it best represented what I was trying to discuss (at the time of writing). Looking back, it is a touch dense and another few days of work would have made the points clearer.
Well.. I dunno dude, Theres always going to be the whiners and the people who hate the whiners, and whatnot, and working under a sponsor is stressful. Maybe this was nitti's way of venting.
This is why I always sponsor my own tourments for NQG, and run them like, once every few months. lol. I know neonetgen, and a few others, aside form myself tried to make "clan alliances" and "pre alliances" work to sort out the bad apples, but over all the mtgo playerbase is basicly a bunch of immature dramaqueens in my opinion. lol. Take control of the situtations and deal with them accordingly, in a mature and professional fashion, dont bend your own rules, and you'll be fine.
I have not made any claims to be responsible for the "beginning of PRE's." I merely stated that I have spent over a year of hosting and establishing myself as a major PRE host.
Wow if it wasn't for someone like you i guess this game wouldn't have any PREs.
You wouldn't have any of this if it wasn't for Meuslix and myself. You wouldn't have events to host. You wouldn't have players in them. You wouldn't have sponsors to sponsor them. or the /join pre room. or the website...
Seriously be for real "me me me me me me" all you did was run events you didn't do any of the logistics to get the balls rolling. You didn't beg for crap cards to give people so they would play. You didn't negotiate with any of these sponsors to get them to pay out $$$ to your events.
thanks yet again for taking a nice steamy dump on those that did the real work to get you to this "dominant PRE host in the PRE scene"
One thing that you don't seem to realize is I run all bans through the sponsors. Yes, I enforce dq's, but I do not enforce bans without running them through the sponsors. Not all my sponsors see eye to eye and have different opinions with how things should be ran. With that in mind, I cannot just block everyone whom is disruptive. I have a job to do and I have to allow people to play in the event. So, that limits what I am able to do as a host.
One thing that you need to understand is that part of being a host is NOT being able to utilize my block button for people as I have to remain impartial and allow all people to play. So while other people can block trouble, I cannot.
Actually, I think the "didn't read it" comments, while perhaps not particularly constructive on their own, illustrate a valid point. All this talk of "virtual turns", "virtual spells", "virtual card advantage", etc. is a complicated way of expressing concepts that would be easily understood if they were phrased in more familiar language.
If I understand correctly, the basic message here is this. Magic is a game of resource management. Players use their resources in order to achieve some beneficial effect, and obviously the player who generates the most beneficial effects is going to win. When a resource goes unused, or when it is used but produces effects that are less beneficial than they could be, that represents a missed opportunity. If the resource is a card, you can always use it later. But if the resource is a turn, or an untapped land, you have to use it every time it becomes available, or else it'll disappear and be wasted.
Madness spells are an excellent example. You can discard a land and give your Wild Mongrel +1/+1. Or you can cast Ghostfire and do 3 damage to a target. Or you can discard Fiery Temper to Wild Mongrel and get *both* effects out of one card, all while holding the extra two mana back to pay for Rune Snag or something.
Despite the writing being a little obscure, I think this is a very important concept for Magic players to grasp, and a great idea for an article.
I have to agree with the previous posters. This article is basically sniping and trash-talk. As adults, we should be above this sort of thing.
As a PRE player and host myself, I sympathize with the frustration that can be caused by people who are bitter, self-important, or just rude. But ultimately, these people's actions speak for themselves. If you do a good job hosting the PREs that you're responsible for, that's all that matters. You have to trust in the average player's ability to tell when someone is contributing to the community and when someone is being destructive.
Just remember all articles are the view/opinions of the authors and not puremtgo.com's. As long as an article is interesting and somewhat well written I will usually post them unless I have a good reason not to. I do admit this article needs to be written better but it was still interesting in my opinion so I posted it.
This article seems to be less about the changes in the PRE scene (have there been that many?) and more about an attack at one disruptive individual. Coming from a community where there are know dissenters, calling them out publically rarely works. From my expereince, the best way to handle these individuals is intra-PRE, not outside in a highly public place. I have made the mistake of being vocal about such players and it has come back to bite me. Other than that, it just seems petty to dedicate a significant portion of an article to bagging on one person, regardless of whether or not you name them. Darn you Zac Hill for making this sort of thing the new thing.
-Alex
P.S.- Before anyone tells me I did the same thing in a previous article, I know I did. It was an error on my part and I have since appologized to the offended party.
A unsubstantiated accusation of WoTC colluding to ruin the PRE scene is just another bunch of hot air that you and your clan(s) keep pumping out month after month. The most damaging thing to PREs is not a single individual but the incestuous melodrama that all of these "demon themed" clans keep perpetuating.
I applaud puremtgo.com for becomming more involved within the PRE scene but have doubts the people are running it. As far as I know Kitty, you've got history with these groups. As long as these clans are still involved in PREs I'll probably steer clear away from them.
Heh, at least pick somebody who knows "alot" is two words and how to spell "fourm".
Just so you know Frank.
The fact that you write like a 3rd grader and your arrogant attitude has made me never want to enter your events. I bet some, if not most, of the 522 visitors this article has gotten feel the same way.
Nice job promoting PREs. Thanks!
Tyranny, its the new cool thing?
1.First person listed makes the table.
2.You have 5mins to get to your table after it is set up.
3. If you let the game hang for 5 minutes or more, you will be ejected from game.
4. You must remain silent during rules anounce and table listings.
5. Repeatedbadgering/spamming in tourny window is not permitted.
6.NO WHINING OR CRYING PERIOD! NO EXCEPTIONS!
7. Harassing or badmouthing of host or his/her sponsor's is also considered grounds for IMMEDIATE DQ and a strict ban will be enforced!
8.If you break any of these's rules you will be DQ.
Consider this a formal warning. Flame all you want here, but you won't get away with it in events I host PERIOD!
very true lol.
I agree 100%, keep the cussing down though ;)
Please try to keep the personal attacks and cussing to a min. I will allow this post for now because I hate censorship but I also hate flame wars.

Ok, so dominant was poor choice of words...let's try established. That better?

What's a *dominant PRE host*? I have no idea how one can dominate the PRE scene.

As an event host yourself you reserve every right to block people and ban them from entering your events. If somebody is disruptive, block and ban.
Maintaning a healthy and fun environment is far more important than you seem to realize.
One thing that you need to understand is that part of being a host is NOT being able to utilize my block button for people as I have to remain impartial and allow all people to play. So while other people can block trouble, I cannot.

What a waste of time. Why would readers care that someone we don't know has a problem with another person that we don't know?
I have to agree with the previous posters. This article is basically sniping and trash-talk. As adults, we should be above this sort of thing.

Garbage. Absolute garbage. The power of the block list far exceeds that of one person's ability to disrupt a PRE.
