Necropotence is one card that helped teach us all that drawing a card is worth much more than a single pointof life. That card is gone forever never to return (unless you play a singleton in Vintage or are still clinging to Ice Age block), but there are some Necropotence wannabes that I’m going to try building a deck around: Graveborn Muse and Phyrexian Etchings. For reference, here’s a classic Necroptence deck:
There are a few things wrong with this statement.
1 Necro is in med 2 and avaialabe at 4x. 2 necro is banned in ice age block.
Time Spiral is the block that got me back into Magic. I quit, entirely by accident, after Apocalypse. I noticed one day that I had stopped playing. But then when I saw Enduring Renewal and Stormbind come back, it was like I had timeshifted back in.
I was scouring SoA for Donate effects, but no luck. Abusing the Plans is my favorite part of the article. I hope that deck works out someday.
Names of deck: Forest Fire Flaming Hurricane Smokey the bear "Body by sliver" (making fun of those body by jake videos because of muscle sliver) burning algae
this deck is more of a precon feel i have 4 muscle slivers because the contest called for them. i have 4 kindles because it goes with the G/R aggro blus it kinda fits with Forest Fire. Both cards fit with the smokey the bear theme Muscle sliver being smoke and he is putting out kindle to prevent forest fires.
i also have a huge variety of cards i didnt want a bunch 4x or 3x of alot of cards because that is the making of a PDC competitive deck not a pre-con that shows people the ropes or teaches people how to play a deck. I didn't add in a bunch of slivers because there is already a sliver theme deck plus a all sliver theme deck is to pumped.
This Deck is called Musclely Pauper. It is Pauper legal despite running Harrow which is an uncommon in the set - the Harrow and rampant growth allow you to easily access the plains to play the talon sliver (allowing a strong sliver theme in the deck). The mana ramp also allows for a quick 6/6 trampling Rootbreaker Wurm and the mana also powers out some rolling thunder. The kindles take out opposing creatures. The deck has lots of muscle (including the green sliver) and is pauper legal. Hence the name.
hammy, looks much better and the info is much more accessible.
I have a little more constructive crit for you though:
When comparing the data on the final two charts (the gained cards and the lost cards) you should formatr them the same way, and by that I mean they should contain their data in the same format.
I would recommend changing the "lost" chart to the same format as the "gained" cart; Starting Price / Ending Price / % Changed. It makes the info easier to grasp for those who don't want to do the math.
These are submissions for the name of the deck. I'll submit my decklist at a latter date, as the contest for that is separate.
You can contact me by PM'ing Jyalt on the MTG boards on the wizards site.
Here are my 10 suggestions:
"A Tempest of Slivers" "Tempest of Slivers" "Common Muscles" "Heart of the Tempest" "Run, Hanna, Run" "Old School Slivers" "Common Rath" "Thorasic Park" "Axilla and Allies" (heh, probably my favorite) "Pure Driving Collaboration"
Thanks for this great card-by-card breakdown. I'm not too impressed with Shards, but there are some ok additions for pauper and peasant players alike. I play peasant magic, and here's a deck I'm messing around with:
I think this contest is a great idea! PDC for Tempest? And it's going to be a real Theme Deck? Where do I sign? (Well, here of course... Duh!)
I have only two suggestions for a R/G aggro deck, trying to get in line with previous "Theme Deck" names used by WotC:
- Primal Power: Referring to the primal nature of both Red and Green, and to the aggressive factor of the deck.
- Outbreak: Mentioning that the four Muscle Slivers are only a small localized focus of aggression from the hive (in this case focused on your opponent's head, of course).
I'm working on a decklist, I just heard of the contest today, and rushed in to get my name submissions on time. Also, I might need to tweak the list depending on what the final name is.

Always loved the content, now I love the format as well...
... but becasue the Tempest review was so freaking Hilarious.
The New layout is likewise, very, very good, and about 4528x better than the last.
In short - best SOTP ever.
